Hotel Palomar - a Kimpton Hotel - San Francisco

All around top notch hotel, especially in cleanliness, service, and decor. Impressive art throughout the building. However, my standards are high for air quality, and this hotel did not measure up. Faint tobacco smoke odor in my room was enough to trigger a mild, temporary sore throat. Ventilation system may not have been upgraded with the last remodel or the room may still be impregnated with smoke odor from years of pre-smoking-ban exposure.

We got an amazing deal through hotels.com and thus spent three luxurious nights at the Hotel Palomar. I was upgraded to a king bed instead of two doubles, which was very nice. The room was spacious and very quiet (facing the courtyard). The bed was SO comfortable, I almost considered giving up a day of sightseeing to spend all day in bed! The staff were all very, very nice and professional. I ate breakfast once in the restaurant and while not cheap, was very good. The best blackberries I've ever had. The location can't be beat. It's essentially right on Market St., blocks from SFMOMA and many other attractions. There's also a great Walgreen's right around the corner and the Westfield shopping center is just down the street. Public transportation is right outside. I'm definitely staying here again on my next trip to SF.

Great location, nice and clean room but for the price small mistakes like billing error (charged for parking when didn't even have a car), not providing a new room service breakfast menu after using one, not having free amenities as indicated in hotel brochure (toothpaste, toothbrush) detract from a a full 5 star experience. It's still recommendable but I would also look at other hotels in the same price range for fun.

The Kimpton was exactly what we wanted in a hotel in SF - a good, clean room with the basic services, coffee and newspaper in the morning, etc. There was even a wine reception in the early evening, although the quality of the wine could have been better. Other than that, they took good care of us and we would go back.

The Palomar is around the corner from SF-Moma, 20-minute walk to Chinatown or Embarcadero. Clean spacious rooms, good service. Wine hour every day (but no snacks?)

From check in to check out this hotel exceeded our expectations. The employees are extremely helpful, have great attitudes and make for a wonderful experience. The room was well decorated, the bed/bedding was extremely comfortable and the location is prime (BART and F-trolley located steps from the front door)! We will definitely be back.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised. Rooms were very nice and the hotel staff was very friendly. Location is also great. I'll stay there again.

Service was great, Room was as advertised. Right on Market street a 15-20 minute walk to AT&T Park, easy access to cable cars to ChinaTown, Lombard St, & Fisherman's Wharf, and right near Street cars to & from the Wharf. BART station on same block for easy transport to both the SF & Oakland airports. Excellent deal!

Very friendly staff and very helpful. No matter what time of day or night everyone had a smile for you and a pleasant word.

This was a great hotel, with fabulous service, great location and one of the best deals we've had in years! We loved our stay there. They even provide pets . . . . a goldfish in your room and one that does well with personality glitches, since their names change almost daily. The desk staff could not have been more helpful. Complimentary ice cream upon your arrival (if between certain hours in the afternoon) and complimentary wine later in the afternoon. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Great spacious room and close to lots of shops. Quiet and very comfortable. All in all we would stay there again. Only complaint is that parking is very high but average for all of San Francisco.

The Hotel Palomar is a nice hotel that is very convenient to the convention center and to public transportation to other events and attractions. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A couple of other notes: --One day we arrived home at 10pm and our room had not been cleaned that day. However, after we called, someone did arrive to 'touch it up'. --No coffee in hotel room, and only available in the lounge for one hour in the morning. --The cost of parking was outrageous!!

Very quiet hotel - remarkable given the central downtown location. Extremely helpful staff. The room was a good size and well appointed - but no coffee machine !

From the moment we entered the hotel until we left, the hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating. I had a 7 yr. old with me and she was treated very well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel has a convenient downtown location a short distance from the Union Square Shopping district and convention center. Mass transit is easy to access from the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. What the hotel lacks is a large welcoming lobby with furniture. The room was clean and comfortable. The complimentary wine happy hour and ice cream in the afternoon was a nice bonus. The hotel was a good value in an expensive city.

Nice modern room close in heart of downtown SF. Loved the leopard and zebra bath robes.

This hotel is situated on a busy corner with easy access to the BART and bus systems. Even though we had a room facing a busy corner there was no noise inside the hotel room. The beds are incredibly comfortable with down pillows and blankets. The animal prints were subtle and attractive. The only odd part about this room was the bright leopard print robe, but I didn't use it. Good size room, very friendly staff, good restaurant, and nice bath products. I would definitely return. Great value.

I would stay there again.

The hotel is a nice, clean, comfortable four star boutique hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room had all the amenities that make for a comfortable stay. The only drawback (which might be specific to the room I had) was that there was no way to get some fresh air into the room. The windows could not be opened, and the A/C seemed to be of a circulation type. Therefore, I found the air a little too stale for my taste, and I helped myself with opening the door for 10 minutes. Other than that, great stay.

I felt extremely welcomed from the beginning. The concierge service was great and personal. Having free wine tasting was great! The room was also very comfortable and clean.

Service was great, bedding was even better, location heart of shopping. But... the parking is way too high.

The Palomar Hotel San Francisco remains a wonderful place to stay in the city. The hotel accommodations are clean, up-to-date, and comfortable. The staff is always geniunely pleasant, eager to please, and cheerful. Location is convenient to many areas (including Moscone Convention Center and China Town).

My only complaint would be that the doors leading to adjoining rooms allow even conversational tones to be heard. They should offer earplugs free to guests!

A true luxury hotel in every way. Location is great for touring the San Francisco area. The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful and always very upbeat!

Our only complaint was the cost of parking at the hotel. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful; the staff is very helpful and polite; and the location is terrific.

Interesting and modern decor, comfortable and clean. The service was very friendly and helpful. Had a wake-up call scheduled that came on-time, although I think either my clock or theirs was off by about 15 minutes. Overall, a good stay, would stay again here or at other Kimpton hotels as I've had good experiences with this chain several times.

spent the night here, love the location, staff was helpful and friendly, room was a little smaller then expected but had a great bed and was well appointed, would stay here again if the price is right.

Great value. Hotel staff were pleasant and the room was very nice with a real comfy bed and linens. Also was quiet. Parking is expensive though.

This hotel is chic and fancy--i.e., out of my price range. But I got a great deal on Hotels.com, and was so pleased. I would definitely stay here again.

Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. The staff was warm and helpful, the room was big and well furnshed, and the location was perfect. It was only two blocks to the Moscone center, and close to Union Square too.

I thought the Hotel Palomar was a great place to stay. It met all my high expectations from my previous stays at Kimpton hotels in Washington DC and Denver. The decor is always visually pleasing, interesting, and original. The staff was incredible helpful and the restaurant was really good.
